What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a therapy directed at a system of more than 2,000 points in the body that are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These changes may stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being. Originally, the Chinese developed and refined the practice of inserting fine needles through the skin at specific points specially to cure disease or relieve pain. Various other cultures over the millennia have since developed systems of acupuncture. At Transcend, we offer Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and the French-developed auricular acupuncture (ear based).

Why choose us for your Acupuncture needs?

If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. What if you had an entire warehouse of tools?

Unfortunately, too many patients undergo a journey with Acupuncture before their injury/illness is fully evaluated. All too often, they are not offered the full range and scope of treatment options at their disposal. The hard truth is that not every patient is an Acupuncture candidate and many should consider this therapy only in complement to others. We are uniquely positioned to offer a broad scope of resources to help you overcome your condition. Using a multi-disciplinary team, we will utilize both a “Western” and “Eastern” approach to your evaluation and treatment strategy. You will be offered a robust complement of options as opposed to a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. This means you will be afforded the benefit of a more complete evaluation and treatment approach than if you met with a provider who only focuses on one treatment modality.  This is important as your issue may warrant further investigation with advanced imaging such as MRI, laboratory analysis, and/or metabolic testing.  Your struggle may be better served with injection-based therapies, massage, or adjustment of the spine.  With our approach, acupuncture is often part of the treatment paradigm that is available to you, but it is not your only option.
