The day after Sean Martin completed the hardest thing he ever had accomplished, he went to Busch Gardens.
His wife pushed him around in a wheelchair.
“Physically, I was a wreck,’’ Martin said. “My feet were just killing me.’’
The Florida Double Anvil Triathlon is no standardized test of the body — and not just on the bones and joints. The mind is tested more than a hard Sudoku puzzle, too, by a 4.8-mile swim, followed by 224 miles on the bike and 52.4 miles on foot.
Martin will do the long, slow struggle for the second year in a row, beginning at 7 a.m. Friday at Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont.
“There is a certain bit of curiosity to the human spirit about what is really the line,’’ said Martin, a UCF graduate. “Every time you set yourself out on one of these expeditions, you realize that whatever that line in the sand is, it’s probably a lot further than you realize.’’
